Boone Endowment Fund

The Peter G. Boone Endowment Fund was created in 2021 by the Porter and Boone families with an initial gift of $250,000 to advance scientific and medical research on choroideremia (CHM). Peter Boone is not only a dedicated advocate for those living with CHM, but also a member of the CRF community himself. He has contributed to the Foundation’s fundraising efforts, served on the CRF Research Committee, and brings a deeply personal commitment to this cause.

The endowment strengthens CRF’s ability to support critical research in CHM and related inherited retinal diseases. Grants from the fund are awarded exclusively to early-career investigators—scientists and clinician-researchers who are working toward, or have recently begun, independent positions as faculty members, investigators, or team leaders. In partnership with the CRF, the Porter and Boone families have set a goal to grow the endowment to $1 million.
